EARTHEN

Earthen, the smell rising
from the ground, after the rain.
I breathe, deeply inhaling
it's freshness
connecting myself
with mother earth,
soft and wet the moss,
tickling my toes.

Desire rises within me,
as the scent takes me on a journey.
My mind starts to see;
the colour of the room,
soft shadows of red and orange
flickering from the candle light,
enlacing us.
Jasmine incense burning,
the bed where we sleep,
we lay entangled as one,
the pouring rain outside,
so soothing, so sensual,
had stopped.
The moonlight throwing shadows
through the lucent silk drapes.
A breeze caressing us,
slightly chilly on our hot skin,
filled with the earthen scent.
I pull up the sheet, and cover us.

I'm still standing bare foot on the soft moss,
slowly disconnecting from the voyage my mind just made.
One with mother earth.
I smile, happy, thankful for being here, and start to dance.

A single odour can take you miles away.
