TALKING DRUM

West African Hourglass
construction of a drum
a pattern of hide
a pattern of rope
a pattern of wood
a pattern of sound
made to give you the pitch
patterned to mimic
tone and prosody
of human speech
pattern of tubular
construction
pattern of conical
construction

The talking drum saying:

"come back home"

but in pattern of drumming sound it goes...

"Make your feet come back
the way they went,
make your legs come back
the way they went,
plant your feet
and your legs below,
in the village
which belongs to us."

The pattern of drumming calling
Calling you back home

"DON DA DON CHAKA PON
PATA PON DON CHAKA
DON DA DON CHAKA PON
PATA PON DON CHAKA"

the talking drums are calling
in the pattern of their tone

Calling you back home

The pattern of the talking drums
Calling the addressed
announcing the sender
the message follows
like when a leopards on the loose
this is the way it goes...

"Mot a nkele nda, ve atan, atan."

meaning:

"He not go in house, but outside, outside."

a cryptic sentence full of jungle implications

That's the pattern sound of the talking drum
a pattern which amazes
used without technology
sending messages over the vast continent
one of the worlds amazing drum patterns

Showing the pattern of great minds
