African Revolution
I stand at the ocean regarding the horizon
It takes me far across the sea
vivid vegetation, forests miles high
hills, vision never ending
the endless wide open roof of heaven
not cramped like over here
but here the stary nights of winter
would compensate the ones I missed
"Hey can't you watch your step!"
I hear in my mind as I recalled
a soldier grabbing a young man by the shoulder
"Move, get down, 40 sit ups!"
"I, I AM, I AM THE UNIFORM" and you are nothing
...and in my head 'not true when we cut we bleed'
ITS ALWAYS RED...!!!
Soldier cussing the boy
more soldiers getting off a van
people gather to see what's
HAPPENING!!!
me among
"Get up, stand on your head"
said soldier to victim
the boy was being tortured
made to nothing but a number
the boy showing fear and anger
I hear my voice:
"Why do you do that?"
"What did he do?"
"SHUT UP"
"He stole from the store!"
I hear my voice:
"NEVER, saw him pay right infront of me
I was there I swear!"
"IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP I'LL ARREST YOU!"
I ran away 20 soldiers after me...
I was quick, I was young, I was gone
nothing I could do
but the commotion did...
he was quick, he was young, he was gone
I hid, heard footsteps
the door
my mom
"Come to the office, dad wants to speak to you!"
"What for?"
"Let's go, don't worry!"
it echos in my head, not far away across the sea
HELL, UNIFORM in dad's office
"Yes Sir, I want to marry your daughter!"
I turn, SLAM DOOR
African REVOLUTION!!!
