I heard shooting
shouting
ran out on my balcony
my son on my hand
my daughter on my arm
what was happening
what was going on
my brother shouted
get down get down
watch out for stray bullets
what was going on
a war?
a government overthrow?
so it was
the military forces had taken over
crying women
screaming children
men afraid to say the wrong things
No water
No electricity
No food
All no good
nothing changed
queues for food
cries of hunger
Military torture
many off to the mortuary
Politicians
even friends
shot dead
what a dread
20th century
Exodus
who ever could fled
went away to a foreign land
to try
to live again
a new beginning with nothing
Homesick
trouble was
Home was sick
wondering even now
after 28 years
how many people suffered this
who live in exile still today
I presume it will always be hard to say
and still today
some people suffer these same things
somehow somewhere
on this planet
and if I could and would be mighty
I'd spread the word of love
so father hear me you great God
let them hear the word of love you have
let them see that killing is so wrong to be
put down all weapons
Let it be...
PEACE ON EARTH
