A Tryst with Self...: Potato Chips

A Tryst with Self...: Potato Chips: "I wonder, when and why You buried me in thy soil of lie, Let me spring with joy Ploughed my spirits with trifles of coy Seeded me wit..."

Anything can happen

I heard shooting

shouting

ran out on my balcony

my son on my hand

my daughter on my arm

what was happening

what was going on

my  brother shouted

get down get down

watch out for stray bullets

what was going on

a war?

a government overthrow?

so it was

the military forces had taken over

crying women

screaming children

men afraid to say the wrong things

No water

No electricity

No food

All no good

nothing changed

queues for food

cries of hunger

Military torture

many off to the mortuary

Politicians

even friends

shot dead

what a dread

20th century

Exodus

who ever could fled

went away to a foreign land

to try

to live again

a new beginning with nothing

Homesick

trouble was

Home was sick

wondering even now

after 28 years

how many people suffered this

who live in exile still today

I presume it will always be hard to say

and still today

some people suffer these same things

somehow somewhere

on this planet

and if I could and would be mighty

I'd spread the word of love

so father hear me you great God

let them hear the word of love you have

let them see that killing is so wrong to be

put down all weapons

Let it be...

PEACE ON EARTH

Crossroad

I'm at a crossroad
confused

I have no answers
nor could my soul find solutions

I feel the heat of truthful approach
rising from my sincere desire
to share for life, build friendship and love

I fan from within me the embers of passions flame
The love, the love I feel for him
dream of how it would be together
all dreams, all fantasies and yet the thought...

I feel the sting of emotions
like a poisoned arrow
shoot through my innocent heart
I cry to gather my broken spirit

My heart burns yet I choose to laugh
I will laugh for my love
I will laugh for the decency of my heart
and tomorrow will be as bright as it should

I rest pure and sincere
honesty brighter than celestial stars
I need to pass this twilight zone
still my heart is filled with romantic folly
as I succumb to his every wish

He is my soul-mate
my love for him truer than I say
I bow in grace to him

I will walk through the desert
to find a fountain with water
to cool me from this temptation
of wanting to be with him

but not even that can calm me down
only he can brighten my route
I feel the bitterness of love
but he came to sweeten my youth

I know what honour is
and his achievements must be honoured
bless him with pure adoration

And my laughter is stronger than
a thunderous Amen...

My Soul is drowning

Here I sit
On my bed
Stark naked
Only my blanket
Giving me warmth
Whereas it is you
I want
To give me warmth
To kiss my tears
Away
Though they are invisible
To the naked eye
My tears
Yet my soul is drowning
In them

It went to far
And now you don't know why
And now you don't know how
And now I don't know why
And now I don't know how

We seemed soul mates
We were one
Now the birds don't sing anymore
The fish have drowned
The wind Is still
The ocean not in motion
The leaves don't move
All is like a stand still

With the wish
To turn back the time
With you...

Beneath the skin

Pure as the sun that burns my skin
the scent fresh, tangy, sweet
The blood of youth washed away
into yesterday
Yet my heart wispers sweet words
of love to me
You're the one who sent them here
for me to hear
I wander around searching for my soul
tarnished by the hurt I had to hold
Hoping to escape this torment for
eternity
Where can I shed my sainted skin
Just close my eyes
and escape to paradise

Let me touch your face
to make sure you're real
Let me taste your tears
to make sure that you feel
Let me swim in your eyes
to make sure you're true
Let me drown in your kisses
to be sure of your love
Let me hold your hands
to be sure it's me you want
Let me in your world
cause mine has faded away
Let me in, please let me in, please let me in...
Beneath the skin

African Revolution

I stand at the ocean regarding the horizon

It takes me far across the sea

vivid vegetation, forests miles high

hills, vision never ending

the endless wide open roof of heaven

not cramped like over here

but here the stary nights of winter

would compensate the ones I missed

"Hey can't you watch your step!"

I hear in my mind  as I recalled

a  soldier grabbing a young man by the shoulder

"Move, get down, 40 sit ups!"

"I, I AM, I AM THE UNIFORM" and you are nothing

...and in my head 'not true when we cut we bleed'

ITS ALWAYS RED...!!!

Soldier cussing the boy

more soldiers getting off a van

people gather to see what's

HAPPENING!!!

me among

"Get up, stand on your head"

said soldier to victim

the boy was being tortured

made to nothing but a number

the boy showing fear and anger

I hear my voice:

"Why do you do that?"

"What did he do?"

"SHUT UP"

"He stole from the store!"

I hear my voice:

"NEVER, saw him pay right infront of me

I was there I swear!"

"IF YOU DON'T SHUT UP I'LL ARREST YOU!"

I ran away  20 soldiers after me...

I was quick, I was young, I was gone

nothing I could do

but  the commotion did...

he was quick, he was young, he was gone

I hid, heard footsteps

the door

my mom

"Come to the office, dad wants to speak to you!"

"What for?"

"Let's go, don't worry!"

it echos in my head, not far away across the sea

HELL, UNIFORM in dad's office

"Yes Sir, I want to marry your daughter!"

I turn, SLAM DOOR

African REVOLUTION!!!
